Tease Me, the third book in the Zane Series, was worth the wait. As you can read, in my review of Tame Me (found here), romance novels are one of my many weaknesses.

Lennon Zane was introduced within the first couple pages, of book number one, and I instantly knew that reading her story would be added to my "must do" list. I obviously had no idea if J.L. Leslie planned on allowing us to explore the life of the willful, elusive Lennon, but a girl can dream, right?

Lennon's past was tragic, and as her story unfolded my my heart broke for the little girl who she once was. She was written is such a way that I could honestly feel her pain as I flipped the pages.

I don't want to give anything away, so I'm simply going to end this review by saying that if a man and women are truly made for each other, Lennon Zane and Swift Cole could be the poster couple for soulmates. I was happy to get all of my questions answered, but I was sorry to see this story end.

Did I miss something?!?!?!? I had high hopes for Confessions, but it lacked depth and consistency. In the beginning, probably the first 18-25 pages, there was a plot that seemed to be building towards a pretty interesting story line, but then it vanished.....key the never-ending sex scene. Once the clothes came off the characters stopped developing, the plot was forgotten, and this book was no longer worth reading.

This book has it all, from the girl trying to recover from a bad relationship, to the hot sexy millionaire boss, and even the ridiculously annoying evil step-father. By the time you've finished Sunset Reads: William & Cristina you won't have to worry about feeling as though something was lacking. The characters were very well developed, the plot was interesting and intriguing, and the story flowed beautifully. I found myself rushing through the pages because I couldn't wait to see where the story was going to go next.

Book Review: Strays (Emma Kendrick)

I can confidently say that I've read enough bad boy/biker books to be considered an expert on the subject.  So, an author has to do something pretty unique and original to win me over.  Does Emma Kendrick have what it takes??

Jackie and Tyler seem to have a knack for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, which leads them to live a sort of gypsy lifestyle.  The loyalty that they have for one another is admirable; and Jackie's no nonsense attitude immediately caught my attention.

Strays is a different, and almost refreshing, biker novel.  The focus was geared more toward the actual relationships within the Red Kings Motorcycle Club, rather than, the outside forces threatening them.  I really enjoyed being able to develop a relationship with the characters without constant fighting and slutty cheating scandals.     

Emma Kendrick definitely has what it takes, and has gotten herself another loyal fan, anxiously awaiting the release of her next story.  If you love bad boy bikers, as much as I, pick up a copy of Strays....it won't disappoint!

Oh god, it's times like these that I really just hate this. I want everyone to have good books so that I don't have to write reviews like this! Ugh.

Now, this isn't REALLY a bad review, because I didn't make it far enough in this book to judge whether or not it's actually BAD. For me, it read a little bit like Room (you can see my review on that here), which was a book that I greatly enjoyed! But this book...I don't know. Let me tell you what it's kind of about.

So, you start with these two fifth grade girls in a clubhouse/box, right? They're studying their spelling words, the usual little girl things. Now, I don't know about you, but anyone younger than 12 in a book gets pictured as a baby. Well, these babies had foul mouths and know waayyyyy too much. So, to begin, less than twenty pages in, I had concluded that this book was for mature readers. That's fine, okay, that's good. I'm fine with that, I can live with it. Well.....what I couldn't deal with was the side glances at abuse and...just..I can't even describe the feeling in my chest when I read the sentence that made me put the tablet down and say "No, nope I can't do it.".  The sentence was: "Afterward, her father changed underwear because what he'd worn during the incident was full of cum.".....after beating his daughter to death with a tree limb....wow...

I'm not someone who can stomach abuse, having experienced a form of it before, so I try to shy away from books with abuse as the main theme.

Now, that's not to say that this book wasn't very well written. It, in my opinion, was slightly mature for 12 year old, but that may just be me. I DO want to know what the deal was with DotCom......and the talking to the trees, but I can't make it past the abuse. Sorry, my loves.

We, at CommonBookSense, take pride in knowing that we don't turn books down based specifically on their genre. We know how hard it is for Indie authors to get the recognition that they deserve, and for that reason alone, we often find ourselves stepping outside of our comfort zones to provide reviews for something that we wouldn't necessarily read. Since starting our blog, I can personally say that I find myself skimming over the genres listed, and focus more on the content of the blurb. It's simple, if it catches my eye, I agree to provide a review.  The Taming of Jenesa wasn't an exception.

This book has done something that many have tried and failed....it has almost rendered me speechless. I try to adhere to the "if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all" premise, but it's my job to let you guys know my thoughts on what I've read...I hope you're ready for this one!

One would think that this book, titled 'The Taming of Jenesa,' would be focused on "taming Jenesa," but she was little more than a passing thought until well into the second half of this horribly vile story. Even then, there was no taming involved. The main characters, Bobby and Keri Allen, have a secret life that involves preying upon the weak. They get off by spending their free time manipulating, abusing, and raping anyone who catches their eye. Who the hell does that?!?!?!? I get that people are into different forms of kink, but I'm completely turned off by anything that involves unwilling participants. I am by no means a prudish person, but for the love of all things holy, are these people for real? Better yet, why would someone want to write about such things...?

If I find myself reading something that I don't really enjoy, I typically begin to focus more on the writing style, so that I may at least have something positive to say when writing my review, but in this case the content was just too overpowering. When these monsters weren't seeking out/torturing their next victim, chapters were spent inside the dreams of Keri, which were full of some really strange sci-fi sexual shit. Weird.

After taking a couple moments to mourn the brain cells that committed suicide while I forced myself to finish this book, I plan on spending the next couple days reading something that's worth my time...and yours.

Let the Waves Come In is written in such a way that it's almost painful to put it down.  The characters are the kind that you either instantly fall in love with, or hate before giving them a chance to change your mind.  By the time I found myself on the final page, my kids were starving (they're teenagers and despite what they believe..they're perfectly capable of feeding themselves) and my dogs were acting like they hadn't seen me in days.  

I seriously couldn't put it down until I had finished the entire book, and I loved every second of it!  I instantly fell in love with Aubrey & Declan, and now I can't wait to get my hands on the next book, Finding Dawn (Drew's story).

If I can give you, my awesome readers, one piece of advice it would be to READ THIS BOOK....or any book from J.L. Leslie, as she won't disappoint.  This one wasn't my first and it definitely won't be my last.

Book Review: The Room (Brian C. Copper)

Let me start this review by saying that I stepped completely out of my comfort zone for this one, but I read it with an open mind. Before I touch on the content I want to note that Brian C. Copper's writing style is one that reminds me why I am so obsessed with reading.  Everything flowed beautifully and was easy to follow.  As the blurb states, this book follows the story of Max and David, but throughout additional characters are introduced, so that the readers can get a better understanding of David's life....and the "room".  David is a unique individual.  I felt like the confidence he had in his sexuality, and his keen ability to experiment with boundaries made him the perfect main character.  

Now, on to the content....

I'm not really sure how to articulate my take of The Room.  I guess that the only thing that I need to say is that although, for me, some of the content came across as cringe-worthy and brutal I found myself needing to know what would happen next.  Explicit homosexual encounters may not get me all hot and bothered, but I can confidently say that for those who prefer that type of thing this book will not disappoint.

What can I say about Taking Flight, by Colleen Young...... 

This is a hard review to write.

This was a good read.  I really enjoyed the story line, and it was easy to follow and easy to picture the characters.  I read it in a day and a half, I simply couldn't put it down. But, when it got towards the end the main character was finally going to choose which man she wanted to be with.
So I thought......

The ending was very confusing.
  
Did I miss something? 

Why would she stop there? 

These are the things I was asking myself, I even went back to the beginning and then back to the end of the book. It just didn't make sense. 

All I can say is I hope there is a sequel or continuation of these characters in the second book, because there was no clear ending for me. If she does write a sequel to this one I would definitely read it to get some closure.  

This is going to drive me crazy.
