Book Review: Titles Are Meaningless (Alex Finnegan)

Titles Are Meaningless
by: Alex Finnegan

Genres: Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Romance

Vampires live among us but they aren't the monsters that we've been led to believe. They live like we do; they breathe, they eat, they sleep, they love, they die. Theirs is merely a cursed race.

Upon their twenty-first birthday, females of this cursed race come into their powers and are forced to undergo a sacred rite with a male in their clan to bring that power to the surface. Olivia is only eighteen but her powers are coming to the surface much earlier than expected. The men in her clan are beginning to circle in an attempt to gain some of her power. Leaving her clan's mansion, Olivia is now faced with the most important choice she's ever had to make in her young life which is when she meets an unlikely ally.

Seth is a normal human who has the worst luck possible. That is until he meets a vampire “princess” with a target on her back. Now he's caught in a deadly game where multiple lives are at stake.

Will Olivia be able to escape the grasps of those who want to use her or will she end up just another victimized pawn in someone's bid for power?

Titles are Meaningless was a book that we originally didn't accept, but after Shell went back through, she accepted it. I was a bit skeptical as to whether or not it was something that I would enjoy, having had bad luck with vampire reads, which was why it sat on our list a little longer than usual.

I am so, so glad that it ended up on our Kindle. It was such an awesome book! The take on vampires was unique (compared to today's vampires) and I just REALLY liked it! It was short, and everything got to the point very fast.

The entire idea for Titles Are Meaningless was unique. It's a fast-paced book that sucks you in right from the first page. Whether or not you like vampires doesn't matter, because either way, this book is one hundred percent worth every minute of your time.

As always, the links are below.

Book Review: Capering On Glass Bridges (Jessica Hernandez)

Capering on Glass Bridges
by: Jessica Hernandez

Genres: Fantasy, Adventure

The Utdrendans have spoken, and everything has changed as a consequence. People normally avoid the fog surrounding the cursed Kingdom of Mar, but now they are asking sixteen-year-old Kaia Stone to venture into it. The Utdrendans implied that there is something special about Kaia. They claimed that she could help free the land; she need only carry out their instructions and deliver a message to the Marian king.

Mar, however, is a land in which dark secrets abound, and many will stop at nothing to ensure that it remains forever cursed. Determined to work against Kaia, unfriendly forces have already begun to gather.

Will Kaia choose to abandon the only life she’s ever known—perhaps indefinitely—in pursuit of the greater good…in pursuit of her purpose?

Helloooooooo everyonnnnneeee!!! Today I will be reviewing Capering on Glass Bridges by Jessica Hernandez.  Firstly, I must apologize to the author of this book for not reviewing it soon enough and making her wait. I am very sorry for the wait and I have no excuses for not reviewing it sooner.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I loved the theme, it was magical and made you feel as though you were in the book yourself. I do wish that she had given more explanation to the characters. I didn't know how to picture Kaia or Elania, the only characteristics that were given is how old they were and towards the end of the book that Elania had dark curly hair.  I didn't know if Kaia had brown or black hair, there was no indication as to her eye color or if she was a petite person or tall. It seems silly but it helps to visualize the story. I still am unaware of how old Warrin is compared to Kaia. And speaking of Warrin and Kaia their chemistry din't come into play until the middle of the book and it was rather unexpected. I wish that the author would of given hints as to the dynamic between them but instead I was totally ambushed with it. I also wanted to see a bit more profession in their relationship, they danced and they held hands a few times but that's about it. And I know that this isn't a romance novel but if there is going to be a romance I would've liked to see into it a little more. Kaia seems like a brave, loyal, and courageous girl, but we didn't really get a glimpse into her personality which was kind of a bummer. The same goes for most of the other characters as well. It kind of left the story feeling empty, with no real description of the characters or their personalities. But I did really love this book, I thought it was original and interesting and i adored all of the creatures that came into play. I do hope that there will be a sequel because the author did leave it on a cliffhanger which I suspected from the beginning but didn't know if it was going to follow through. Anyway, I really liked this book and would recommend you read it if you like fantasy/ fiction. Jessica if you have a sequel or any other books please do send them in as I would like to read them too. Thank you for choosing us to review your book and I hope I did it justice. Again I apologize for the wait.

I bestow love and happiness among you all and wish you a beautiful day!!
 XoXo

Book Review: Bright's Passion (E.B. Black)

Bright's Passion
by: E.B. Black

Genres: Fantasy, Romance

Bright wishes he wasn't the god of the suns.

Every day is the same: he makes the suns rise and then they set. He looks down at humanity's corruption. He watches wars, people starving, and thieves stealing.

He can't help. Every time he tries, the humans take something from him. They've destroyed his family and he has no doubt that they'd like to destroy him, too.

Adonya is a raven-haired witch with powers that make her as close to a goddess as a human can be. He's wondered what it was like to be with a woman, but all the goddesses are dead.

He can feel it when he touches her—she's as dangerous as all the rest of the humans. Can the power of love join their races together? Or will one of them wind up dead in the end?

I have SO much to say about this book..but first, I must apologize for not posting reviews as much as I should...believe me, Shell has reminded me several times haha. As I stated in a post over the weekend, some medicine my doctor has me taking makes me craazzyyyyyyyy dizzy, and when I try to read it makes me feel like I'm going to puke.

Anyway, you don't care about my sob story, you're here for the review!!

I have read several books similar to this (or so I thought). The whole 'fall in love with an immortal' thing is, albeit, slightly overdone...But some people prefer their steak cooked that way........and some people are vegan (or a vegetarian), but that's beside the point.

I realize that I probably offended one or many of you. If I offended you by saying "vegan" before "vegetarian", I'm sorry....but people would have been offended even if I said vegetarian first.

If you're angry I even brought up vegans/vegetarians, well, it was a fact, and YEW CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH, as someone apparently very famous once said.

Lastly, if you're offended that I mentioned that some people like to eat meat, well, you're just gonna have to suck it up because people eat meat and also because this is the internet and I can say what I want. That is also a fact. #WhySoSerious #IdoAsIPlease

This book was very unique. All of the books similar to this that I have read have been through the eyes of the one falling in love with said immortal. The mortal with a comparatively shorter life span, might I add....which is typically true when you compare an immortal to a mortal. Who'd have thought? Anyway, as I was saying, this book was different in that aspect. It was through the life of Bright, the god. It was a very new experience, as well as quite humbling, to read something like that.

There were a few awkward parts. For example, the first third of the book is mostly without dialogue, and it was beautifully written, but I found the periods of extended dialogue to be slightly stiff. As well as the fact that the time period where this book takes place is a little lost on me...they spoke with very modern language, so I would picture them in slightly-modern times....but then Bright was wearing robes and a loincloth. I found that it was very jarring to be yanked from the book by something like that..But I found my eyes simply passing over these minor issues as I was thrown hazardously back into the world of Bright and his problems.

I also found Bright to think of things in a rather vulgar way, but it was easy for me to overlook those minor grievances as I was eagerly turning the page. I really like Bright. I found myself comparing him to several of the sun gods I've met on my reading adventures.

I can say, without a doubt, that if E.B. Black decides to send me the next book, that I will pick it up and read it without hesitation. Bright's Passion was a book that I thought about when I wasn't able to read it; I was thinking of what was happening while I was away. The book was very entertaining..And really, that's all that readers ask for.

I'll leave you lovelies with this.
Keep your noses in the pages and I'll blog youuuuu later!!
